Where Architecture Meets the Landscape

Nestled along the coastline of Mahurangi, New Zealand, this thoughtfully designed home demonstrates how architecture can work in harmony with its surroundings. Originally envisioned as a family retreat, it evolved into a forever home that balances contemporary design, everyday comfort, and a deep connection to nature.

Designed to Belong

Shaped by the site’s coastal conditions and environmental considerations, the home embraces natural materials, dark exterior finishes, and carefully placed glazing to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Rather than dominating its surroundings, the architecture quietly complements them.

Blurring the Line Between Indoors and Out

Timber plays a central role throughout the project, creating a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces. Wood-lined ceilings, feature walls, and outdoor living areas establish a warm, cohesive aesthetic that strengthens the connection to the surrounding environment.

Beauty Built to Last

Selected for its durability, stability, and natural character, thermally modified timber provides the performance required for coastal living while maintaining a refined, contemporary appearance. Its sustainable credentials and timeless appeal make it an ideal choice for a home designed to endure for generations.

A Home with Purpose

From healthy material choices to energy-efficient design, every detail was considered to create a home that supports both wellbeing and longevity. The result is a residence that feels timeless, personal, and deeply connected to the landscape it calls home.
